The site fees are listed on the Rate Sheet and vary by popularity of the season.
This fee will include all set up, clean up, wedding coordination, glassware, silverware, plateware, tables, chairs, linen, and 18 color choices for cloth napkins.
The only other required fee is a housekeeping gratuity which goes directly to the housekeeping staff.
There are only two optional fees.
If you want to rent white plastic chairs for the ceremony, they are $2.50 each.
There is no fee for the lawn ceremony area but there is a $500 fee to use the hillside ceremony area.
There are no other fees.
Whitney’s Inn typically requires a room guarantee when hosting a wedding at our venue. The number of rooms to be guaranteed varies based on the popularity of the season and can be seen shown on the Rate Sheet. Mid-week weddings from Sunday to Thursday do not require any room guarantee.
If it appears that you will not be able fulfill your room guarantee, let us know and we will make every attempt to fill these empty rooms with outside guests. We are usually successful in doing this and you are not required to cover the cost of these rooms if they are booked. However, if these rooms are not booked, you will be responsible for the cost.
Our Event Menu includes a selection of both stationary and passed hors d’oeuvres. The cost of these are not included in the per plate charge. It is recommended to offer 1-2 stationary hors d’oeuvres and 3-4 passed hors d’oeuvres with 4-6 pieces of passed items suggested per guest. There is not a minimum amount required for hors d’oeuvres.
Unless your group size is over 140 and a wedding tent is required, the only items to be rented are chairs for the ceremony for $2.50 each (if not using the woodland ceremony.) In the case of a tented wedding reception, the cost of round tables, round linens, lighting, the tent and sides will be about $4,000-$6,000.
Entertainment is extremely important for a successful wedding and we provide a list of DJs and bands for this purpose. Most professionals will handle the music for the ceremony, cocktail reception, and dinner reception. However, if this is not the case, Whitney’s Inn does have sound systems for any of these functions.
Jackson, NH and the White Mountain National Forest provide amazing recreational activities for your guests. Whitney’s Inn has several amenities available to guests including an outdoor heated pool, a 1 acre stocked trout pond with free access to canoes, kayaks, and fishing poles, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, and a fire pit. Black Mountain, our next door neighbor, offers downhill skiing in the Winter. The area offers golfing, fly fishing, kayaking, canoeing, biking, and hiking during warm weather months. Downhill and nordic skiing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, snow shoeing, and skating are available in the Winter. North Conway, just 15 minutes from Jackson, also offers excellent tax free retail and outlet shopping.
You are welcome to use a wedding planner if you wish but it’s really not necessary. We provide a Wedding Coordinator, who will gather every detail needed for us to host your wedding.
Whitney’s Inn offers two guest rooms in the main inn and two standalone cottages which are dog friendly. There is a $25 per night pet fee.
Our chef is very familiar with food allergies and individual dinners can be prepared for guests who are gluten free, vegetarian, dairy free, etc.
Breakfast is not included in the room rates. We do, however, offer breakfast at our sister inns, The Christmas Farm Inn + The Inn at Thorn Hill. Our free shuttle service will bring guests to our other inns and back. We at Whitney’s do offer a breakfast buffet if it is fully hosted with a 25 person minimum, for $19 per person.
A vendor list is provided for DJs, JPs, ministers, photographers, bakeries, salon services, transportation, rentals, and florists. These are extremely talented local vendors who have been part of multiple weddings with us and come highly recommended. It should be noted that these are not required vendors and you are welcome to bring in your own vendors or perform some of these functions on your own. You will typically find our local vendors to be less expensive than those in other parts of New England.
Once you have determined that Whitney’s Inn is the perfect choice for your wedding day and you have chosen your date, please let us know and we will get a contract out to you right away. Review it and if you have no questions, please sign it, and return to us. We only ask for a $1,000 deposit within 7 days of signing the contract and then you’re all set!
We will provide you with a floor plan for the Shovel Handle Pub along with dimensions for all of the tables.
Whitney’s Inn has a minimum of 80 and a maximum of 200 guests for weddings. We also offer a minimum of 40 guests for mid-week weddings. The Shovel Handle Pub handles 125 guests comfortably but can accommodate up to 140 guests if needed. Weddings for more than 140 guests require a wedding tent for the dinner reception but the pub can still be used for dancing after dinner.
We are happy to provide you with an estimate prior to making your decision to have your wedding with us.
We ask to receive the final menu no later than 1 month prior to the event and the final guest count no later than 2 weeks from the event. We ask that no changes be made to the menu or guest count once we are two weeks from the event.
We offer a food tasting at no charge to the wedding couple. Up to four additional guests may attend at a charge of $20 per guest. With your tasting, you can choose up to 4 hors d’oeuvres and 4 entrees.
If there is a special beer, wine, or liquor that you would like us to bring in for the wedding, we will order it for you as long as we can purchase it from our vendors in the state. NH law forbids you from bringing in your own alcohol for the wedding.
A champagne or sparkling wine toast is offered for $6 per glass but is not required.
There is a 8.5% tax on the food but the alcohol is tax inclusive so there is not an additional tax on the booze. There is a 22% service fee on the food and hosted bar. There is no gratuity applied to a cash bar. 18% of the service fee goes to staff, while the remaining 4% goes to the venue for overhead costs.
We accept all credit cards and checks for payments.
We do not have many rules at Whitney’s Inn. We only ask that we have “last call” no later than 10:30PM and that everyone is out of the pub by 11PM. When you start is up to you!
Yes, the Barn at Whitney’s Farm is air conditioned
Our wedding coordinator, Jessi Lane, will be with you every step of the way. She will take your initial call, give you a tour, and answer any questions that you might have. Once you have decided to book with us, she will gather every detail of your special day, work with your vendors to make sure they have everything that they need, answer all questions that will inevitably come up, handle timelines, and do all day of coordinating. This includes making sure everyone is where they’re supposed to be, along with the vendors, setup is completed, and that all formalities go smoothly. She will be with you from start to finish.
